After studying fashion design and styling at the Academy of Arts, Gerard de Haan started work as a make-up artist and hair stylist for magazines and tv.
Photography being his hobby he took advantage of the situation and ask tv personalities to pose for him.

All aspects of photography fascinate him, but portraits are his favourite. In his work the interaction between model and photographer is palpable, but also his sense of beauty, lighting/shadow, shape and make-up turn his portraits into stylish, sensitive and warm images of real people.
